Gas Temperature Distribution and Fluctuation in a Lab-Scale Fire Whirl

چکیده
Fire whirls cause an increase in fire damage. This study clarified the unsteady behavior of whirls, considering that instantaneous changes temperature and flame shape can affect damage to surrounding area. Numerical simulations a lab-scale simulates whirl were performed investigate gas velocity fields under various fuel inflow velocities. The flow field was obtained by solving continuity equation three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equation, turbulence resolved using large eddy simulation. A chemical equilibrium partially premixed combustion model used, radiation effects considered. time-averaged distribution along burner central axis revealed decreased monotonically from upstream downstream. showed as one moved downstream, but decrease uneven. time variation demonstrated higher velocity, especially near burner, greater flutter. Furthermore, larger swell wobble. results affected fluctuation undulating movement.

Fluctuation Enhanced Gas Sensing at Modulated Temperature of Gas Sensor
Taguchi gas sensors are commonly used sensors to measure gas concentration. The detection method utilizes only sensor DC resistance changes for determination of various gases concentration. Unfortunately, such technique leads to false results due to cross-sensitivity of gas sensors at presence of other gases. Such adverse effects can be reduced by applying fluctuation enhanced sensing and tempe...
متن کاملNumerical Study on Small-Scale Fire Whirl using Large Eddy Simulation
Fire whirl is a rotating fire with either a fixed or revolving flame centre-core caused by unbalanced entrainment. In general, the flame height of a fire whirl is significantly larger than that of a free standing fire. It is suggested by several studies that fire whirl is a disastrous scenario especially in urban or bush fires since it can greatly promote the fire spread and escalate the thread...
متن کاملSimulation of Vorticity-buoyancy Interactions in Fire-whirl-like Phenomena
In this study the commercial flow code STAR-CD has been used to simulate a laboratory experiment involving a so-called fire whirl. Such phenomena are typically characterized as exhibiting significantly enhanced mixing and consequently higher combustion rates due to an interaction of buoyancy and vorticity, but the details of this are only beginning to be understood. The present study focuses at...

15 صفحه اولTemperature Distribution of a Non gray Gas between Two Parallel Planes Using Exponential Wide Band Model
In this paper, the Radiation Transfer Equation(RTE) for a non-gray gas between two large parallel planes has been solved and the temperature distribution obtained. With the RTE, solution heat fluxes are also determined. Since and are two components of most combustion products, the problem has been solved for these two gases. The results were, whenever possible, compared with data reported el...
